Message: Hello all,
I have been noticing the lacking of posts here lately, so I thought I would throw in a question that I encountered this weekend.
I just got my 32's this weekend with Eagle 589's put on and I was given a "class" if you will, about the "back spacing" and all that stuff before they were put on. I was told because of the amount that they stuck out, there was going to be a slight shimmy in the truck. This was due to the fact of the geometry of the changed front end angles. Well, he was right (not that I doubted him), but my question lies in the fact that I am curious as to who else that has gone this route, or bigger, if anyone has done anything to try to correct this problem, or is it one of those things that we live with? It's not that bad, but I also notice it when I brake fairly hard. Can I assume that it is nothing to really worry about? Or is there a "fix" to try to make it go away?
The tires are or a fairly aggresive tread. They are classified as AT's but they are, like I said, fairly aggresive.
Just one of those posts to keep the pages flowing, and also to see if it is just a problem that I may be encountering, or if anyone else out there is having the same "problem" but just haven't brought it up at all.
Thanks for the info.

Message: i had that problem when i got Swampers on my 1998 ext. cab 2wd lifted with a 3in. body lift. it rubed the frame until i got the some black rims from American Racing. then the tires started to rub the inner fender well(the plastic peace). from there i just trimed it til it didn't rub any longer.

Message: Cant say that I've ever really heard of a shimmy developing from new rims having different backspacing. More like the tires being a little hard to balance maybe. Dont know, thats a new one on me. The rims wouldnt change any front end angle's. The vibration when braking sounds more like what I have, in that it's just the more aggessive tread pushing down on the road harder.

Message: Thanks for the info. Hawkeye. I think the shaking when I brake is the same thing you are having. Maybe it is the tires that make it a little off balance. Oh well, its something I am going to have to just live with. But I tell you what, the truck sure looks good, no matter how it drives.
Ah, what to do next. What do ya think, Hawkeye? Maybe I will just vacume the interior. It doesn't cost nearly as much, does it?
Josh: I am still in the Military. The Army to be more exact. I am stationed at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. I am an instructor for a remote type of intelligence aircraft.
Thanks for the info. I am sure I will be thinking of some more posts here in the future.

Message: Airborne...you and I are in a similar field. I've got a company of 96D's in Tampa.
And by the way, I'm chairborne all the way...never flown on a plane without benefit of a runway landing. Most of my flights include the phrase "I'll have a beer, please" and "please remain seated until the plane comes to a complete stop."
