Message: I have a 1999 Dakota 4x4. I put an 3" body lift and a 5" suspension lift but I didn't like it. I am now going to Dana 60 front and rear. I will be 4-linking it but looking for advise about my speed sensor. If I change my rear end what will happen to my automatic transmission?

Message: Well your trans dosen't care what rear end you put in there, it is just like changing your tires. your spedometer will be off though, just like it was with the tires. you'll probably have to get a different spedo gear. hope this helps

Message: First of all put the sensor back in. the way an automatic works is it uses two things, throttle pressure (how much you have your foot into it) and govenor pressure,(the actual speed of the transmission tailshaft) although with a new electric tranny it's all "sensorized" these are all preset, for example at WOT (wide open throttle) it will shift out of first at about 28 or so out of second at lets say 56. now if your going down the road at 30mph with your foot barley into it, you have very little throttle pressure and a desent amount of govenor pressure, now if you floor it you have full throttle pressure and a dsent amount of govenor pressure, this will cause the motor to down-shift and vise versa. so put the sensor back in and you'll be ok

Message: My 1989 Dodge Dakota, V-6, Auto Transmission, will not shift into overdrive. The overdrive button is set for overdrive. At 65 mph the motor is doing 3000 rpm. I understand the speed sensor may be bad. Is this a problem I can fix myself? Any help will be appreciated.
