Subject: Removing Trailmaster lift IP: Logged
Message: I just purchased a 92 4x4 with the 4" trail master lift. I really don't
care for lifted trucks anymore and am thinking about removing the
kit and putting it back to stock. I have found the original
installation instructions which seem to be very detailed. I want to
know from someone who has installed the kit personally, what
stock parts were removed or replaced? I need to start finding stock
pieces so I can do the swap back to stock in one day.
Also, is there anyone interested in buying the used kit? I am
located in San Antonio, Texas but would ship the parts to
wherever.

Message: Chrisalicious,
Below are the major items that were changed/ modified to install the kit:
There is a frame cross member under the rear area of the engine that was cut out.
There is a 'portion' of another cross member (transmission support) that was cut to provide clearance for the front drive shaft. (this should have a gusset bolted to the underside of the remaining cross member)
Both upper control arms were replaced.
Both tie rod sleeves were replaced.
U bolts for the rear end were replaced with longer ones with new hardware (nuts).
I still have all my original pieces (except for U bolts & nuts). Being a pack rat, I rarely get rid of parts still usable...Yes, I did all the work myself (2003 timeframe?) on my `95.
Hope this helps.

Message: Thanks for the reply. What would you want for all the parts
shipped to 78154?

Message: What I would want for my parts. The kit you are removing? I have somewhere it can go.
I forgot to mention the obvious in my earlier post...that the shocks were also changed with the kit(different lengths). I would need to check my shed to see if I kept the originals...not sure.
