Subject: tire sizing - what fits 97 stock 4x4 IP: Logged
Message: i have a 97 Dakota slt 4x4 club cab - stock height... i finally saved up and bought some nice 17" wheels and was curios to what size rubber i should put on them... im not a serious off-road guy but just enough to get around to farm ponds and whatnot... pretty sure i wanna go with Hankook DynaPro ATM... I just don't want to go to big where i might have rubbing issues but want to look nice around town too... so any ideas on tire size??? Thanks

Message: It greatly depends on the backspacing of your new wheels. If they are backspaced the same as the OEM wheels, you can go a bit larger than stock. If there is more backspacing to the new wheel, you may end up with rubbing issues at the rear of the wheel opening on the front wheels...even using the same size tires you currently sport. A good tire distributor should be able to give you an idea of what will fit.
