Subject: 285-75/16 Tire - Lift Needed? IP: Logged
Message: I have an 06 quad-cab with the 4.7L. It currently has 265-70/16 tires on it. I was looking at some 285-75/16 tires yesterday and was thinking it might like to try those if they'll fit. In addition to looking a bit more badass, I should get a bit more ground clearance as well. My question is this, do I need a body lift kit to use tires of this size, or will they work just fine with the stock configuration? I have thought for awhile about putting a 5/3 lift on it to level out the raked look (which I can't stand anyways). However, with putting the money out for new tires and possibly rims, I don't think a lift kit will be in the cards right now. If I must lift, could I get away with just putting a 2 inch lift on the front, to provide more clearance when turning the wheels?

Message: I think you could put a 2" leveling kit on the front and go ahead with the 285/75/16. It will raise the front of the truck even with the back and should allow enough room for them without rubbing.
