Subject: Tranny shifting help IP: Logged
Message: I am guessing that this has been hashed over in previous posts, but I am new to this group...so. I am interested in finding a way to improve the shifting on my 2000 4.7 auto 4wd it does not have any problems per say but i would like to firm up the shifts and do it without harming the tranny in the prosess. it would be mostly for towing and offroading every once and while. any help or suggestions would be great.

Message: I would recommend the TransGo brand shift kit. They are better suited for pickups and RVs. They provide a more firm shift, but not to the point it will dump over a BBQ riding in the back of your rig. I will also state, unless you are mechanically enclined, you should seek out a reputable shop for the install. Not that it is a real difficult task, but you do need to be able to decipher the instructions in 'mechanics' terms. The shift kit is all about modifying the flow of transmission fluid. Good luck!
