Message: I am new to this And I pick this truck up for free with 40k on it and it's a 1999 And is flawless wanting to put lift kit and tires on it I have a lot of question so anyone please help me.. Live in colorado

Message: Not normally. The 4x4 uses torsion rod suspension up front, and the 2wd version uses springs.
In back, the 2wd leaf springs are under the axle (easier to lower), and the 4x4 leaf springs are above the axle (easier to lift).
Get under and check it out.

Message: Just to note. It wouldn't benifit ride quality that much but will give you a much better view of the road.
I think a raised up Dakota look pretty cool.
