Message: Yep the wife going to kill me. She suffered through the years of me building trucks and thought I had finally outgrown it when I bought the quadcab. I tried to keep it small and simple. Just a body lift, build some bumpers add lockers and some 33s. My rack and pinion has a few tight spots. Gotta fix it. 600 bux? Hmm I could probably just swap a solid axle in for that much.
yep just bought the front half of a 79 bronco frame with suspension steering and axles. Basically they are gonna cut the frame right behind the radius arm mounts and give me the front.
Better to ask forgiveness than permission I guess.

Message: Do you guys know where I can get a good frame schematic? I think I'll put up a page with exact dimensions and plans so that anyone looking to do the swap can just go there and get all the information they need. That way they know exactly where to bolt the RA mounts, coil towers, trackbar mount, steeringbox and the exact dimensions of the tracbar, steering links and any custom brackets needed. That would make it possible to gather up all the needed parts and complete it over a weekend.

Message: It is fullsize ford. To give an idea of width the last one I did on an explorer we took off 6 inches from the long side to make it match. I think they are atound 54-55 wms-wms.
He backed up a bit and is sticking with 400 bux each. Not bad, but you might be able to find it locally for about the same.
Gears are 3.55 or so

Message: Im in the process of doing my solid axle swap right now, I bought a dana 44 from a 78 bronco, fits perfectly in there. Im going with a 3 link set up and coilovers, its going to give me the smoothest ride and plenty of articulation while offroad. The coilovers were probably the most expensive part so far, 600 bucks for the pair, but its well worth it. So now Im going to be rollin 37s instead of these little 33s I have right now. If you got any questions feel free to ask. I know alot of people want to do the swap, it just takes some research.
Wheel 'til it breaks!
