 Subject: 93 transfer case

I've phoned a couple of wreckers who tell me that the 93 dakota has a different transfer case than the other years, i've looked at the tag which says it's a 231 D.
Do I need a specific 93 case or will other years fit it?

yes the 93 case is different from all other years, 94 had moere splines on the output or input (i forget which ones) and 96 up has synchros and the different splines, 92 was a vacume acuated front axle compared to a full time axle for 93 up, the case is different because it has vacume fittings and what not for the acuator on the axle.
