Message: i have thought about doing this before, just have not gotten to it
its just a matter of making the key exactly the same as the stock one but just rotate the hex shape a few degrees
i could make one or two, i have access to manual mills but it would just take a while and i would have to get some good size steel, like 7/8 thick
1990 sport RC SB, 1995 318drivetrain, 3.92 gears (came with truck) Powertrax "traction system", 95 dash/steering wheel, hearthrob exhaust, headers, cutout after y-pipe, necessary electric fan add-a-leafs, 30x9.5 mud tires, cranked T-bars, AR 39 15x8 rims, grill guard, roll bars

Message: Superbee I had a super bird back in 1974 , had a 426..
got it up to 145 then it scared the crap out of me, so aftern that I kept it around 100!
I thought around 7/8 with a good hard steel would be plenty good!

Message: What would be the point of this ? You're just cranking the bars the hard way, putting the twist in it with a different key - rather than cranking it by the bolt. The lift comes from the twist in the bar resisting deflection; no matter how it is achieved. Why go through so much work, for essentially the same result ?

Message: They work as I stated, and they have not sold in that volume for mopars. I believe its generally the Chevy guys that use them as they do not have as much adjustment. Once our bars are maxed out, if you don't have the height you want, the two reasonable choices are to replace your worn out torsion bar with a fresher one; or go to a bigger bar if you can find one. I believe someone posted a while ago there is a bigger bar from some year Durango that would fit a Dakota. Since we have so much more adjustment than Chevy, if you go with a different key and max out the adjustment, you could be overstressing the torsion bar.

Message: I believe if you have the bars more than half way used on the adjust bolt, then they are pretty much stressed out anyway and if you have them fully cranked in my opinion they would definitely be way stressed out, your thoughts/opinions??

Message: Once again.
In that thread that Kowalski mentioned, I gave the year Durango, and gave the part numbers for the bars.
Search for it.

Message: I used to be more helpful, but so many threads on the same subject. Same questions as before.
The answer is here, you just have to do some work yourself, instead of expecting someone else to do it for you.
I took measurements.
I did the research and found larger Durango torsion bars to fit my Dakota.
I installed them and reported the results on this forum.
I also provided Dodge part numbers in that thread.
The hard part is done.
All YOU have to do is search the forum for the thread to get that information.
Why is that so hard?

Message: Too bad some of you beauties are so rude that no one will help you. Maybe you could learn something from that. You might have to pony up for a membership to find this info if you really want it. If you ever find it, I'll tell you this much - the info posted by "Will" in the thread is wrong. He confused a different rear spring package with the rate of the torsion bars.
