Message: Some are, some aren't.
And if you mean do they lock completely like a locker, no Dodge doesn't offer a locker in the Dakotas. You really answered your own question there by calling it a limited slip which means it will slip a limited amount.

Message: real easy way to find out if you have lsd or not. do a brake stand or just regualr burnout, if you leave two strips you have lsd, if you leave one you don't.

Message: But burnouts are more fun!
Also you could take the VIN to the truck to a dodge dealer and see if they would run it through their computer to see the full build sheet on your truck.

Message: or you can lift the rear end of the truck and turn one wheel and if the other one turns in the SAME direction, then you have lsd.

Just light em up and see if you leave one mark or two.

Message: That method is not as reliable - there are situations where an open rear can still light up both tires. That's why many of us prefer the other method.

Message: If u jack the truck up and spin the tire to test for a LSD the other tire should spin backwards not the same direction. and if u spin the one tire and the other tire does nothing congrads u have an open diff
Also if u have an open diff and the ring is on the left axle your right tire will want to spin first well driving due to the fact there is less weight on the axle. So in other words its easyer to do power slides going around left corners then right corners

Message: Yup, take it from Kota Kid and brianj - Dak1014 is confused about this.
