As a general answer, it's not good at all.

Now, as to specific answers - it depends:

If your departure from mother earth and the return are smooth transistions i.e. a gradual grade up and down (table top jump)...or off a small drop-off that lands you on a downward slope, then you are probably fine, so long as you don't grab too much air.

Stock suspensions are not designed for rapid, hard, full limit compressions. Once you bottom out, the rest of the energy gets absorbed by pushing components (springs, torsion bars) beyond their intended flexibility. Once those will not flex anymore, they break or transfer the remaining unused energy on to the parts that don't move (control arm mounts, frame). Some times you see a rig that looks bent at the cab? That can come from jumping and landing hard, nose first, on all fours, or on the rear 1st with the front coming down harder.

As a rule I avoid it UNLESS I have enough equipment to determine if he has a battery problem or a starter system problem. Thing is, if his starter has shorted say in the windings, when he hits the key it doubles this short and fries things. Nothing sadder then watching your nice 145 amp alternator and most likely your PCM as the relay is incorporated. Know what your doing before you try it.

That was nothing i jumped my 2002 dakota across a wash out in the road that i did not know about doing 80 kph. The wash out was a little longer than the truck, and it was one hell of a hard landing. I pulled my yoke out of my diff a little but managed to get it to the dealer and got the warrenty to cover it.

well 80 kph isnt much more then we were going, we arnt sure how fast we went but we think it was about 35-45 mph and it wasnt a big jump to go off of, if it was bigger like some of the other jumps we found on that road we might have jumped higher and farther. but the guy that owns the truck is trading it in on a new car, and doesnt want to do any off-roading of any sort before he gets rid of his truck.
