A 96 Dakota 4x4 would have a Chrysler 8.25" rear. You could get a factory LSD or look into an aftermarket unit. There are also lockers available for it. I had a Detroit Locker in the rear of my 88 Dakota and a factory LSD in the rear of my 96. I no longer have either rear, I've replaced the rear of the 96 with a custom built Dana 60 and am in the process of doing the same on the 88.
