Do you think my 2WD 97 5.2 can handle some small and mild off
roading? I'll be going to the desert to go airsofting and I would like
to use my truck to scope out some spots. It's not a soft sand area,
and I only have 2WD. So I hope it won't get stuck TOO much.

If you have LSD and are carefull, you'll do OK. If you have an open diff, one small sand pit and you're stuck.

Be sure to carry a shovel and something for traction in case the tires do get stuck. In the snow and Ice, I use a couple of old blankets, and that works really well. Never tried it in sand, though.

i used to have a 95 S10 4.3l non-vortech, 5spd 2wd and i went off roading in this truck constantly. i don't mean light stuff, a went over rock traisl, mud, rivers, everything! yeah i got stuck, but 2wd trucks when driven properly can make it through quite a bit. now granted, i often made up for not having 4x4 by driving faster but that truck wouldn't die no matter how hard i tried to kill it. your dak in the desert shouldn't have any problems so long as you keep it moving in any areas where traction starts to dissapear or up hills.

I do plenty of desert off raoding with my 5sp 4 cyl dak. It has 32" bfg's and no power. You just have to keep it moving. I haven't been stuck in a while, but i'm always prepaired.
