Subject: CV Shaft, I thought IP: Logged
Message: Guys,
I just had to replace my lower control arm as the shock mount on it broke off, don't ask. I found a junk yard replacement for $75 and while I was at it replaced the lower ball joint with a Moog, and then a new CV shaft as I was starting to hear clanking noises from there. Well it was a pain in the ass to get the CV shaft out, and then the new one in, but it is still making the noise except louder now, but only when 4 wheel drive is engaged. Help!

Message: Front drive shaft cv right? Sounds like the bearing on the transfer case side of the front drive shaft has gone out on you. You need to replace the whole shaft assembly, bearing and all. I had the same noise your describing. Happened while driving too fast in 4WD.
