Subject: Rock Sliders For A Dakota?? IP: Logged
Message: Anyone know where I can get rock sliders made specifically for the Dakota? I'm looking for something similiar to these:

I suppose I could probably find something about the same length of my cab (club cab) and just modify it?

Message: I looked all over for a set for my 02QC and could not find any for the Dak. But like you mentioned, you may have to modify something. I looked at the Smittybilt for a RAM and I think it could be modified for a DAK. I have about decided to Fab my own. I have looked a wire welder since my stick not too good for that kina of work. Good lick and post if ya fin something.

Message: Catfish..... In case your interested in getting a wire feed here are some great tips. I have a hobart but mine was made prior to miller buying them out. Now hobart is a cheap welder and miller has the good parts as hobart used to have. So go with a miller. There great and do a terific job. Mine is a hobart handler 120 and you would be amazed what I have welded with it. Miller has a 120 but you might want to look into the next size . It's either a 130 or 140, I forget. Reguardless you want the gas model, not the flux coated model. They are not near as good. Also get the stinger/cable for the 035 wire and use the 024 or 025 wire . It will flow a lot nicer making it totally simple to run great welds. Also by going with the 035 stinger/cable, you can run aluminum which starts at 035 in size. So so easy to weld aluminum. All you do with this setup is change the wire and the tip to the proper size. One thing you need to know. You can not weld with one of these in the wind. It blows the gas sheild away from your work and your weld will be a mess. You can not go wrong doing it as I say here. Had mine for many years.
So many problems .... So little time

Message: Make your own out of 2x3 tube steel @ 88" each in length, and some 2x2 outriggers mounted to a piece of 1/4" stock and either weld them or bolt them to the frame. A few gussets to firm it up, and now you have some custom slides, and a great jacking point for a highlift. Mine cost @ $150 for materials.
