Message: My opinion only. Sell yhe 2 whel drive and buy a 4x4. it will be built correct from the get go. Grant you. therre are a few that have the capability to convert and do a reasonable job of it. still not the same thing. One exception. If your going to put a solid axle up front, then you need to do the conversion. Solid axle rigs are true 4 wheelers in my book and if you intend to use/abuse your truck in the rough stuff and I do mean RUFF STUFF, There is no better way to go then solid front axle. Install one that can be fitted with an air locker along with the rear end. Nobody will be able to touch you in the mountains.

Message: If your dead set on doing this, get a beater that is streight from the front edge of the doors to the front bumper. Cut your intire front clip off and replace it with the front clip from the doner. Your going to have to be a good welder and properly reinforce this unit as required to keep it together. Remember. welded metal breaks alongside a good weld due to crystalization. You must reinforce. I just can not see a reason to go through all this work when you can buy a truck that looks exactly like yours and you probably won't spend as much money all dependant on the year and condition truck you buy. The months it would take to built one, you could be driving one and doing things to inprove performanc or looks as you wish.
So many problems .... So little time
