I used the BFG mud terrains on a 84 GMC Jimmy. That was my mountain and winter snow vehicle for a few years. Good tire. It's a little rough and noisy on dry pavement. But it would go anywhere without a complaint. Heavy snow, deep mud, some rocks - no problems.

My Dakota is used as a year round daily driver, and for long cross country trips. I use Michelin LTX mud/snow tires. Excellent tire. I have about 40K on them now, and still have plenty of tread and good traction. Some tires - like the factory Goodyears - will start to get hard and slippery long before the tread is gone. So far, that hasn't happened.

A couple years ago we were driving through a huge snow storm in southern CO and northern NM. There was a lot of snow and ice. We saw lots of cars and trucks down in the ditches. The next year, we drove through a blizzard all across souther WY and into Denver. Most of the small towns in southern WY had not seen a plow yet, and the snow 12-15" deep. Those Michelins just went on through like it ws a powder dusting. No drama, no slipping, just good traction. I've also driven the forest roads in snow and rain. And I've driven through deep sand in Sand Dunes Nat Mon, CO. No problems there, either. I wouldn't use anything else for an all season LT tire.

I agree! I had some 32" Michelin LTX on my 95 YJ with 3" suspension lift....great tire. I didn't do any hardcore off-roadin cause it was my daily driver but my buddy had the same in 33's on his YJ and he went everywhere that the mudders went. Great in the snow (which I DID play around in a lot) and I'm up here in Canada! : ) I was with my buddy after work at the watering hole and the snowplow had left a nice 8 foot pile in the parking lot. My bud (jokingly) dared me to go over it....which I did no problem. : )
