does anyone know about any heavy duty ball joints out there that fit my 01 dakota 4x4 and could i do it with limited tools. What tools would i need? thanks

I just changed the ball joints in my 99 4x4 5.2 dak and it was a long difficult job.. First off the uppers are pretty easy all you have to do is grind off the tops of the rivits to get them off and hit them with a punch. The lowers are more involved and difficult first off what we did was grind off the top lip of the ball joint that was holding it in place and got some wd-40 and a sludge hammer and hit it untill it dropped out the bottom... then came the fun part putting in the new one... first we lined the inside of the joint and the holder with grease and set it in the bottom put a piece of metal by the joint so you don't beat it up and pound on it and it should slowly slip into place but not enough to get the snap ring on and we had to rig something up to put all the weight of the truck on the joint and hit it again and it finally went... I don't remember how we did it but it was tough and yeah I would recommend having it professionally done we had a big shop full of tools and it was still hard but yeah thats what we did..
