You don't want a limited slip in front. You want a driver-actuated locker, either air locker or an electric one.
A limited slip will cause steering nightmares in slippery or low traction driving. If the surface is too slippery, it'll be like having no differential action up front and the truck will seem to have a mind of its own, and want to go straight when you want to turn. Not good.

3-4 years ago, I installed the Powertrax no-slip in my rear [of the truck =)] & have been happy ever since. Being that I drove on sand without & then with the no-slip made one hell of a difference. Haven't got stuck yet with the upgrade!!!

SteveJ is right on the money. Put a limited slip diff in the rear if you want, but don't put one in the front. For the reasons stated.

Not to mention the fact that no one makes a limited slip or a locker for the front 7 1/4"

On the other hand, if you are replacing stuff, why not locking differentals front and rear. You'll then never have the famous limited-slip spin-out problems in the rain or when someone ahead of you spits on the road.

He could do that in the rear but there is nothing he can do with the front. The only thing available for the 7.25" front diff is an open carrier. You can not get a locker or a LSD for it. It's an odd-ball diff that is totally unsupported aftermarket.

Maybe he could bore it out larger so a aftermarket one will fit.
