Message: Well I ended up putting on the KYB Monomax's. I like the ride both on and off road. They didn't come with any rubber bushing where they are mounted to the the brackets in the rear (top and bottom) and on the bottoms of the fronts like the stock ones had. I've noticed a slight sqeak after driving around 150 miles with these shocks and I'm now wondering if its due to not having these bushings since there is metal to metal contact with the shock and the shock bracket. Any suggestions?
One cool thing that happened during install is that at one time I must have hit rock and bent my passenger side lower rear bracket just enough to make a cradel, which made install easier. After compressing the shock I simply have to put the shock in this cradel and bolt it up.

Message: That doesn't sound right. It shouldn't be metal to metal. My track car is like that, and you can hear them rattling around sometimes. I wouldn't use components like that on my street truck.

Message: They don't rattle since they fit into the brackets snuggly and then combined with the clamping force of a bolt going through it, it is very tight. I spoke to the retailer who sold these shocks to me and they said that to the best of thier knowledge thye aren't neccesary.

Message: Other than a racing piece that uses a rod end, I'v never seen a shock without any kind of bushing; rubber, poly, etc. My street/track car has a rod end on one end, and a bushing on the other.
I looked at a picture of those shocks. It looks like there's a metal tube inside a rubber or poly bushing. I think most shocks are that way. But sometimes the picture isn't the actual part you ordered.
Let me know what you think of that shock. This is something new to me, and I'm curious how it works.

Message: I like the shocks handeling compared to the stockers. A little stiffer, but nothing too extreme. So they are acceptable onroad as well. If you don't go offroading at all I wouldn't suggest these shocks.
I'm going to autozone later to see if they have any rubber bushings for the outside of the mounting tubes for these shocks. If I don't have my stereo up the sqeaking gets a little annoying. My truck wasn't squeking proir to install so I'm pretty positive that it is due to the shock replacment.

Re: I didn't get under my truck and check this, but I'm pretty sure you are right. However, the stock shocks had a rubber or poly bushing that go over/around the metal tube between the mounting bracket on the truck and the shock. So basically what I think is sqeaking is the metal to metal contact between the metal tube and shock bracket on the truck.
I don't look forward to re-installing my shocks, but I don't like cruising around making a bunch of racket with a 2004. If it was an older truck a sqeak would be acceptable, this is not.
