Message: My buddy mentioned that my 01 QC 4X4 looks like it was lower in the rear after i installed a SungTop Shell. I measured all the way around from the ground up and all my measurements were different.
Right Front=36.5"
Right Rear=36.75"
Left Front=36.75
Left Rear=38.25"
I was just thinking about blocks in the rear to help with the extra weight but now it will still be off. i know i can adjust the front through the torsion bars but im more worried about the rear being off 1.5". And yes i did confirm the air pressure was the same all the way around.
HELP I NEED ADVICE!!!!!

Message: You can adjust the fronts by cranking the torsion bars, no problem. But with such a small differance, it's probably not worth the trouble trying to change it.
The rear is a little more difficult. Assuming nothing is excessivly worn, manufactuing variances in the springs, perches, shackles, etc, will cause the truck to be uneven.
The simplest and cheapest is to install a 1.5" block opn the low side. For general driving, that will work just fine.
If you really want to get picky about it, you need to replace the springs and shackles. Also be sure to check the frame and axle brackets to make sure they are in the correct place.

Message: Sometimes you have to be careful where you measure to. I am assuming you're measuring up through the centre of your wheel to your fender opening. Before assuming the springs are the problem you may want to measure from the pavement up to the frame. I've seen people have problems with fenders, fender flares, box position, body mounts, etc... From your specs, it looks like you might just need to fill your gas tank to level it out. hehe

Message: Moser,
Lets just say all i want to do this summer is go out and enjoy the great outdoors with my family. And the best yet most expensive way to get there is in my 2001 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 that i have worked so hard and invested so much time and money into.
This whole gas emergency is only a way for the rich guys to get richer.

Message: Don't forget tires can and do very. When I buy new tires I make then hand pick them so there a perfect match. out of round is another common problem on new tires. I watch when they balance them. Once in a while an out of round tire can be rotated on the rim and it fixes the problem
So many problems .... So little time

Message: Another things about the tires is that if you turn one way or another more or less it'll put more where on the outside tire. The size of the tire will change after doing them burnouts that we all know we do once in awhile ;) I mean we all do once in awhile right? It wouldn't be a truck if it couldn't. I know mine can ha ha ha! (once in awhile though, mud tires are expensive!!!)

Message: Before you do anything else; I suggest you have your local frame shop check it. Especially if you have done any serious off roading, more especially if you are one of those: 4X4=airborne types.
