Subject: 2wd longtravel kit IP: Logged
Message: Good news guys. I have been in contact with a company called atomic motorsports concepts and they are planning a 2wd long travel kit. I found this out by shooting them an e-mail and i was planning to send them my dakota for the research and fabrication of the first of the kits but by June when i was planning to send it to them i wouldn't be able to save enough money. The cost should be between 5k-6k they said. No numbers on travel distance. So, the reason i am sending this is to let you prerunner guys know that they are still looking for a truck to design this kit on. Also, i have asked Camburg of their plans for a kit and they have no future plans for any dakota suspension kits. Here's atomic's website so you guys can check them out. http://atomicmc.com/pages/home.html

Message: This may be true that they are planning on a long travel for a dakota but a buddy of mine had his s10 built by the company and not to long after he totaled his truck because the front end broke off which caused him to get into an accident!

Message: Atomic had some shoddy work in the past but rescently has redeemed themselves. Like Kyle said, there was an incident where they let a kit go form the shop which had no internal gussetts.
On another forum they posted their new work and it looks pretty good so far. I am waiting to see a few of their kits out to see what people have to say.
Its a LOT of money to spend so you have to be confident.
On a side note, I haven't been on this forum since like 2002 and its nice to see people interested in long travel kits. No one was really interested in long travel back then.

Message: Id love to see one for 4x4. But $5,000 to use my truck as a guinea pig. Sounds sketchy to me.
Souldnt there be some give and take?

Message: I'm not understanding the offer there making. Why would a reputable company Charge a person to be allowed to experiment on there truck . Also why would they risk law suits letting an off the street guy take an untested kit out to play with risking his life not to mention his truck with untested product and charge him 5 to 6K to do this . What am I not understanding here
So many problems .... So little time

Message: ya when i was talking to them i was all for doing the work and testing on my truck but when they said that it would still cost me 5-6k to have them do it i went looking again and actuall found a guy who had his done at GR Fab and he tells me that they have done about 4 or 5 down there and that they worked out the kinks already. Theirs was 5k for everything minus airbumps and he's been thrashing on it for 4 years. Here's a link for pics to it.
