Message: 99 5.2 auto 4x4. Does my truck have constant velocity joints on the front drive shaft? I want to remove the front shaft to see if the noise i'm having is still there after.

Message: The CV joints are on the axles, the drive shaft has u-joints. Look for tears on the boots for the CV joints; they go south fast when they lose grease. Also see if you feel any play when you shake the drive shaft.

Message: Sounds like a driveshaft u-joint then. Try to find a greasable style to replace it.

Message: The CV this guy referred to was the double U Joint thing coming out from the front of the transfer case. I know what CV joint are but what this guy pointed at wasn't something i ever heard called that. i brought it to another shop today and they said all front ujoints are good. Now i am back where i started with this noise. Brakes, ball joints, tie rods, center link, u joints all good, according to 3 shops. One told me torsion bars moving making a metal to metal noise but i sprayed them with white grease. well i guess i'm going to have to live with the noise until something just breaks, i'm done looking and its not affecting the performance of my truck.
