i have a 01 dakota AWD,and i seem to be having a problem with the 4x4 system.....truck will not switch from AWD to 4H,OR 4L.....at first i thought i was stuck in 4H, so the only way i could think of to tell was to make some really tight doughnuts and to see if it would bind and jump....it did'nt...thats why i think im stuck in AWD.....the switch at the dash is not lit up, and i checked the plug at the 4x4 acuator on the transfer case, there is NO juice going to it....there is juice at the fuse block,no broken wires anywhere,or bad fuses. the problem is getting to the switch to test it!!!!!!tried for 2 hours trying to get to it....no luck!!!!!!took panel off under steering column thinking we could get to it....nope!!!!! i was also told it could be the transfer case modulator under the dash that could have taken a crap.........any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Probably should let the dealer take a look at it. More than likely it is a short somewhere inside the wire so you can't see it. Could be expensive... Thats all i've got to offer.

Mine did the same thing on my 02 Quad cab, had it diagnosed and they told me it was the transfer case control module. Also told me my cost on the part as $434.68. That's insane.
Anyone know where you can get this part without getting your head torn off?

TCCM fixed my problem in my 01 dodge dakota got mine for $150 at local junk yard
