Message: Been there done that. It is difficult to find a good place when you're 12" in the mud!
I had once planned on welding/bolting in some hooks behind them opening in the front plastic.
If you plan on going in the rough, that would be my recommendation.

Message: I have an 02 club cab and found that 1991 chevy S10 tow hooks work out very nice, the only thing i had to do was unbolt them form the S10 and bolt them on my frame. The S10 uses a threaded backing plate i.e. no bolts, stronger and easier to install.
