I'm confused, i've got 33x12.50's on my stock rims right now...am upgrading my rim to a 15x8 but i want a more aggressive look...the tires to stick out past the fenders just a little bit. what backspacing should i look for? are there any black steel rims that have the kind of backspacing i'm looking for? right now I'm lookin at the rock crawler series 97's.

thanks!

33x12.50's? I have a 2000 and I think the stock is 4.5 backspacing? So I gather that the lower number (3.5) means the wheel sticks out more? Also, what type of rim are you running? They look good...

yeah the stock backspacing is either 4.5 or 4.75.so the less backspacing the more they stick out but if you go out too far they supposedly put alot of stress on your bearings and balljoints. My tires are 32x11.5 the rims are eagle 589 all purchased thru "national wheel & tire" the rims are aluminum so i painted them the color they are now.

Hey Bucket,
i know 97 and up have 5.5 stock backspcaing. So if Gen Is and IIs have 4.5 stock backspacing could i put older dak rims on my truck and get them to stick out a little further? or would they not fit (maybe different bolt pattern, brake caliper location, etc...?)

Hey Justin ever get that rack welded up?.......But yeah i think that would work because i have a 94 4x4 and a 98 two wheel drive and the rims are interchangeable and are both 6 lug,I have three 89 daks and they are 5 lug and two wheel drive so all together different on those.now im not sure about the brake caliper location but as i look at both vehicles 94 and 98 it all looks identical. So i would think you should be good.

Cool that may be a cheap way to get some other wheels. Well, ya know how i got that roll bar? and then i had to modify the basket...Well i sold the rollbar and tomorrow i am driving up to chicago to pick up a topper...not sure if i will use it or sell it (i got it for a steal 50 bucks!)
So the half completed basket and materials are sitting out in the shop.
By the way Bucket if you have never seen my dak here is my cardomain page: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2206772
The pics are not that current since them i have got 6x9 mirrors, taken out roll bar, and in these pictures i did not have my small basket on which has a spare and some lights on it. anyway thanks for the info

yeah i am too cheap to register, for trolls posting under my name...oh well. yes i am 800 miles from there but the trip went well beacuse it is all interstate and i averaged about 86 miles per hour. the topper i picked up is an ARE, it's red (matches my truck) and is in great shape. once i get it on (this week i hope) I will post some pics at my website and let you know.

By the way, the bumpers I also got for a steal up in Colorado springs (550 miles away). New the hanson is 1600 and the fabbed one was 350, i paid the guy 400 for both! had them powder coated and there we are.

It is amazing the deals you can find if you constantly are on the lookout and are willing to drive saturdays and sundays. I have even purchased several things and made money on them via ebay.
