Subject: Axles??? IP: Logged
Message: Why wont a beefed up Jeep Cherokee axle work under a Gen II dakota? I know they are kinda a weak axle but if you beef up the shafts and only run 33's I would think it would work. The pumpkin is on the drivers side and they use the same transfer case. I can find those axles all day long so thats why I ask.

Message: A Dakota is heavier than a cherokee. Cherokees on 33s can break those axles. Cherokees are generally Dana 30 up front and Dana 35 out back. Some cherokkess have a dana 44 or chrysler 8.25" which is enough for a Dakota. The dan 30 front won't take too much abuse. I'd look for at least Dana 44s front and rear.
