Subject: Info on basic suspention lift IP: Logged
Message: Well after searching for the last week on info about lifting a stock dakota sport 4x4 I found more questions from people than answers therefore i'm posting up what i've found and what works
Stock shock absorber length eye to eye:
Rear: 15in compressed 25.5 in expanded
Cheap suspention lift:
Cranked torsion bars resulted in a 2 1/4 inch lift
3 inch lift blocks on rear leafs and used 24inch long 9/16 grade 8 u-bolts bent with a 2.5inch center (10 3/4inch high flat top u-bolts)
Pro comp es9000 shocks front and rear (the ones they suggest for stock replacement work since I measured them and the fronts are 2 inches longer than stock and the rears are 3 inches longer than stock)
3 inch body lift is still required to properly clear the 33x12.5x15 wrangler mt/r tires with no rubbing on the fenders at full compression
Total costs:
rear blocks: $20
shocks: $150 for all four
custom grade 8 u-bolts: $50
Body lift $60 without steering adapter which I fabricated
Note: if you are frequently carrying a fair bit of weight in the rear I suggest using a different pro comp shock, model #926508 is the shock used for the ford f250/350 2wd rear replacement and
it has the same compressed and expanded lengths as the #924509 but with stiffer valving... I have a custom dirt bike mount on my trailer hitch so I am carrying 250lb extra off of the tailgate
I hope this information is usefull... have fun
