Subject: NEW 6" SUSPENSION FOR 97 & UP DAK IP: Logged
Message: According to the latest issue of Petersen's 4wheel & offroad, Rough Country is currently working on a 6" suspension lift for 1997 and up Daks. Supposedly it will achieve the 6" of lift with NO TORSION BAR DROP! This is being used on a lot of their new lifts, such as the ones for 99 & up Chevy trucks. It is also suppose to have upgraded heavy duty CV shafts for the front. I'm not sure if they will be included or an option though. Unfortunately the article didn't say when this lift is suppose to be coming out, but they did say to expect big things coming soon for the Dakota. Not just from Rough Country but other manufacturers as well. Kind of makes you glad you kept your Dakota, doesn't it? If you want to know more check out the article in the latest issue of 4WOR, the article is called "How to lift late models" or something like that.

Message: Well you got more info than i did. I called within minutes of getting the issue. The guy said he was just a telephone sales and didnt know much about what was due out other than the chevy stuff. He didnt know much but said he'd heard nothing about it. I HOPED it was true but was left in dismay. I hope youre right.
If i can confirm this i jsut might hold off on installing that 3" Bodylift as i dont think i want 9" of lift. If anyone finds out anything more let us know!

Message: i read that too, and i can't wait to get it...well it depends on the price for me, if it is more than the tough country lift i will go with the 5.5 inch...but the rough country sounds awesome! let's hope they come out with some other variations as well, maybe a 4 inch susp. lift!

Message: The best news of all. They are just now getting started on R&D, and they hope to keep the cost under a Grand, That's they're hopes anyways.. Keep it as low in cost and as few parts as necessary. SO no more 80-90 piece lift kits.. I was told possible 3-4 months before the lift hits the market but only time will tell..

Message: if you have 9 inches of lift, that is hella...you aren't going to wheel that are you? that might be a lil unstable. if i were you i would just stay with the 6 inch, or buy the 5.5 inch from tough country. stay with the susp. lift

Message: I wouldn't put anything higher than 35's on mine just because of the rack and pinion.. It's the same one as the chrysler minivans have.. damn dodge..

Message: For real. I'd be in on that. Maybe if theyve got an order for 10 of them they'll get them done a bit sooner.... On the other hand what i DONT want is another suspension lift rushed to market without really having all the flaws worked out yet. Im just so excited i cant wait!

Message: 97-05? Wouldn't there have to be 3 different kits then? I figure since 97-00 have worm/sector steering, 00-03 have rack and pinion and from what I heard 04-05 no longer even have torsion bars but coil springs instead.

Message: in 1980 they changed the name of 4wd dodge fullsize pickups from power wagon to power ram. In 94 they shortened it to just ram. In short- a power ram is an 80-93 dodge fullsize 4wd pickup.

Message: The things also needing to be considered with 6 inches of suspension lift are the drive lines front and rear, brake lines, steering... and ring/pinion changes if big tires... just a couple of thoughts...

Message: I have the rancho 3" and love it, but would switch in a minute to the 6" and run at least 35's, probably bigger as I clear 33's pretty easy with 3". Maybe, just maybe, rancho will come out with a 6" so not to be outdone. rancho kit was pricey but its a great kit and they supplied stuff like extended ss braided brake lines. NOW, if only somebdy would make a darn locker to fit the odd-ball 205mm front axle on my 02, now that'd be kicking some bad ass.

Message: Its September 2005 Petersen's 4wheel&offroad...Page 100-101. This issue has the 'Lift Your Late-Model IFS' as the main feature article on the cover.
It specifically mentions the 6" Rough Country lift and CV-shaft package that incorporates an extra pivoting arm and no torsion bar drop.
