I am needing shocks on my 2WD dakota. After the much abuse the factory shocks are pretty far gone at 106,000 miles. I was reading a lot of past threads on different shocks. I had my heart set on the RSX because of the bang for the buck. Anyhow I was just told by 4 wheel parts that they arent available for 4x2. Anyhow they recommended the Rancho RS5000 or the ProComp ES3000. Anyhow by reading here I don't think the RS5000 would be very good for my application.

Basically I am looking for a good city shock that I can drive off road a little bit and feel confident with. Please give me your opinions and suggestions.

I put RS5000's on my 2001 QC4x4. I use the truck mostly for commuting, long distance driving, towing, etc. Some off road, but not a heck of a lot, and nothing brutal. It's my daily driver.

Excellent improvement in handeling and performance. I little bit rougher than stock on irregular pavement, but an excellent trade off for the gains. Watch places like summit racing; I got mine there on sale.
