Subject: 98 Club 2x4 body lift IP: Logged
Message: While looking at lift kits on-line I noticed that there was another product being offered, some sort of gaurd to be installed under the fenders to keep the engine compartment clean of mud and road grim. Is this something that is needed along with a 2-3 inch body lift on Dakotas?

Message: They are Gap Guards or Lift Lips. They are basically plastic covers that cover the gap left after you lift it so the as you said, crap doesnt get on the engine and also so you cant see under the bed from one side to another. They are not very expensive. About $30 - $40.

Message: Yeah you can use them but i'm not sure if the wood would be strong enough. I prefer hockey pucks instead of wood if you really want the cheapest body lift, i think you would need about 20-25 of them and all you have to do is drill holes in the center of them that is the same diameter as your body mount bolts. Better safe than sorry is the way to go.
