the other day i was off roading in the gamelands by me and came upon a tree that had fallen. i decided to use my tow strap and pull the tree so i could get past it. i didnt know what a good tow point was on the front or rear of my 98 dakota. i managed to move the tree without any problems. in the future though, any help as to where to pull/tow from?

grimm, for the most part you are screwed in the front, unless you want to put in a front receiver hitch. You can egt ones that look and work well. On the back, I would suggest a receiver hitch. Then you can either feed the tow strap into it and then a pin to hold it in there (like one you would use to put the receiver piece with the ball on it), or you can get a block that fits in there that has a clevice on it, warn makes one, but they are not the cheapest things.

One things for sure: Don't send a hook through the hole in the front skidplate! My buddy's Z71 oblonged it. Got me out though. My best guess would be to go around the lower control arms. Bring a shovel with you so you can get to them. Lord knows if you get stuck they'll be buried.

How deep can that pond possibly be?
