I have a 1997 3.9 4X4 Ext Cab, 3 inch lift and the whole 9. I love the truck but does not $hit for power. Anyways I am thinking of getting rid of it and getting a 2000 Quad cab with a v-8, I was going to just upgrade the motor and come to find out its to much work and money. So here is a my questin, is there a 3 Inch body lift for a 2000 Quad cab Dakota, and is it as easy to install the lift on as my 97 was?

can't answer you Q but i also have a 97' 4x4 CC 3.9 with a 3 inch BL yada yada...you're right it does not have ANY power! but i can't afford a new car so i am saving up for a 5.9 swap :)

Guys,
I also have the v6 with 33's, 3"BL and 3.92 gears. I see your frustration for power too, but with 33's, I am pleased with the power I am getting from a v6. Off-raod, there is NO problem. Pulled out a buried in clay Tahoe the other day with ease and a v8 f-150 could not pull it out. Granted, my tires, low gears, low 4x4, etc, but point being it does the work for a 6er.
I do wish i had power to tow, but I am going to swap in a 318 or 360 for that in the near future. And cost wise, I say the the swap is cheap versus getting a truck with the v8 already in it. If you have the truck paid for, swap. Save the money and use it for extra stuff. \
Overall, I feel your pain at speeds of 75 up a hill, against the wind, but it is a v6 and does do well if you open up the airways on it.
Gas mileage wise, i wish i had the 8 cuz I think they get about the same, I get 12mpg,

erod, i hear ya. on the trail and pulling and in town i love it! but when i take long road trips (like over 700 miles) it sucks! my cruise holds for the first 20 minutes and then it appears my truck gets "tired" there is no power from 60 on...it just won't go...can't wait to get that 5.9....

i always thought the v6 was a good engine. my friend had a 97 ram 3.9L and we used it on his farm. offside of the fact that we beat the piss out of it, that engine never stopped running.

PA makes a 3" body lift for 00'-02' Quad cabs. I have the kit here and installing it this week. Not sure how hard it will be to put in , but i have a friend and a shop to help me through it. I will post pics when done.

I will love to do the swap I wouldent even mind going caberated, but I dont know how to weld and I am sure there would be some welding and cutting involved.
