Subject: Body Lift for first-gen Dak
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a couple of older Dakotas, an 87 and an 88. The 87 has a perfect southern body and the 88 has a regular old rusty Minnesotan body, but it's on a 3.9 5speed 4x4 frame, and I'm doing a body swap (putting the nice 87 body on the 4x4 frame). I also want to add a body lift, probably 2 or 3 inches, whatever. 1: What are some good body lift kits for my first-gen Dak? 2: 31" tires would easily clear with that, right? and 3: Is that pre-bent Flowmaster exhaust system with dual tailpipes I see on Ebay worth the money or would I be better off havin my favorite exhaust shop throw somethin on for me?

First, the best body lift I could find was From Performance Aessories. I put one on my 89 Dakota and it is awsome! 89 bucks with everything you need. Second, yes 31"s will clear that easily. Thats what I put on after my lift. A little rubbing in the front at hard suspension travel, but nothing major. And third,That is all up to you what you want to do with your pipes. Keep it simple, keep it stock. But being 17, thats my mind set. Good Luck!

Trailmaster makes a 3" body lift for Dak's, i've heard many good things about Trailmaster so no problems their, can't remmember the price though.
Performance accessories make good kits to but with either kit you need to make your own bumper brackets, shouldn't be too hard, just make sure you do it right so if you need a bumper it actualy works the way it should!
