Message: Well, alot of stuff. I sorta have plans to do a custom lift on my Dak, but I wanna do more than just lift it. I wanna make like, a whole new front suspension. I want to try my hand at making a REAL ifs suspenion, not just swapping in a solid axle. Its kinda just planning, just wanted to toss around some ideas and stuff :)

Message: Maybe I should be a bit more specific...I have a 4x4, and I want to either switch to a coil-over suspension, or find some way to make the torsion bars work better but still get some more ground clearance (like, not dropping the torsion bar crossmember down). Coil-overs is ideal, make taller shock hoops and maybe get some real travel, but theyre expensive. I also wanna find a way to use locking hubs, so I can have a steeper A-arm angle. I was hoping to get in the range of 6in of lift. I want to use a 4-link with quarter elliptical leaves in back (or coil-overs i suppose, but again, the cost), but blocks or taller leaves would work fine for now.

Message: I do some fabrication, mostly on my 40 ford, I did a frame swap from a dead 2wd dakota into the car and put 87 grand fury suspension under the rear of the car.
Im not sure fabricating new control arms would be the best idea. I have seen kits that do what you want, not for the dak, but unless you are an engineer I wouldnt recomend that kind of suspension modification just because it changes the suspension geometry. The kits are engineered, and should be safe, but unless you got mesurements from a kit i wouldn't recomend it.
Another possibility might be to narrow the suspension from a full size truck to fit under yours that would have an aftermarket so you could get engineered parts to do what you want, or at least have engineered parts to copy, but unless you have previous experience it might be to much, as it involves modifying lots of parts, and would take lots of hours, you would probably be without your truck for weeks.
