Message: I went wheeling yesterday, while my wheelin' spot was flooded by the Connecticut River. We got out to a certain spot and my buddies just started shooting skeet. I figured if they're not gonna wheel, then I'm gonna blow some donuts in this little pond that formed. I figured it was only 6-12" deep. As someone said in another forum, the learning curve can be expensive! I attacked this pond in 4hi going about 20-25 and sunk into water 2-2.5 feet. I managed to back out in 4lo, but my check engine light was not only on, it was FLASHING! A friend told me to wind out the motor to blow crap out of the exhaust, and it sounded like that jeep in the first top truck challenge dvd. The one that chose to go through the tank trap with no snorkel, and waterlogged his engine. all I heard was BADADADADA, my truck sounded more like a machine gun. But go figure I shut the truck off, scanned it with my obdII reader in my glove box (worth its weight in gold if you ask me), and as it turned out no engine codes read. The truck started right back up and sounded perfectly normal. I'm gonna check for any oil and tranny luid leaks today. I'll post some pics once I get em developed. Damn I love this truck!

Message: my offroad club and me regularly go to flooded areas and cross creeks halfway up the grill. we watched a 2500 hemi hit the water too fast and did what you did. only when he tried to start it back up using 1/4 throttle be blew a hole in the side of his block by throwing a rod. engine is trashed and the bill is 8 grand. i can tell you sucked water through your intake and your very very lucky you didnt throw a rod also. that horrible noise was your engine burning up the water. look on the bright side, i bet you had alot of while smoke pouring from your exhaust huh? well atleast you burned some carbon out of the engine. next time that happens shut the engine off as soon as you can pull the plugs and turn it over till water stops shooting out. change all fluids as soon as you get home. probably the water threw the MAF out of wack and that caused your check engine light to go off
