I am getting a 92 4x2 dakota and I live on a farm, so dropping it would be a bad idea. Does any body know where I can get a suspension lift? How high would you guys recomend lifting it?

Come on doesn't any body know how to lift my dakota? Also I am new at lift kits and suspension work. What would be better a body lift or a suspension lift? What kind of tires would be good to put on it? I need help here guys, I have never done an mods to a dodge before.

After all..it only been a day....
Now...to answer you question. Yes there are lifts out there for you.
My question to you is..how much do you want to spend?
There is a lift for $175 ..and theres a lift for $1300.
SO..I ask again...howmuch do you want to spend?
# 2 Question for you. What size tire do you want to run? More money there for tires. (Approx $500)
# 3 Realted to # 2, if there too wide you need bigger rims...hence more money... ($500-$1000)
# 4..if bigger tires...bigger gears.... Yup..more money.
While your at it..you could put better shock on too...theres another 200 bucks...
There are endless possibilities...its all up to you.
If you want cheap, quick and easy...do abody lift. An easy 3" of lift and you can run bigger tires (Not huge ones..but bigger...)

First of all, sorry fo being impatiant I tend to be that way.
#1 I am willing to spend as much money as it takes, but the more money it costs the longer it will take to get it. I would prefer to do things as cheap as I can, but still do it right. If I could keep individual things under $750 that would be good.
#2 I would like to put new rims on anyway, I don't want huge tires just something with grip. As for a size maybe 32x11, some where around there.
#3 What size gears would I need to run with 32" tires? I don't know much gear ratios.
I don't need a truck that can sit window to window with a rig, I just need somthing that can go offroad without draging.

If I did a 3" body lift would that affect any brake lines, shifter linkege or anything like that?
Also I wanted to put a posy locker in the rear end. Where can I get the stuff to do that?

Hey man, about your 92 Dak. I know you can get a 4 inch suspension lift from Trailmaster ($1,400.). As for it's ruggedness, I dont know. You could also go with a 2-3 in body lift. About all the linkages and extensions, if you take it to a 4x4 shop, they will take care of all of that. My body lift cost about $500 bucks but the shop had to customize it for me. Its all up to you and your wallet. I run 31's on my 1990 Dak and i have a fair amount of clearence. Good luck.

If you follow the instructions, youll be ok. You have to unclip the brake line plastics things.. but it all works out. The Performance Accessories kit comes with everything.

Hey man, sorry for not replying for a while. Benn real busy. Trailmaster made my 3in body lift. I must look it up again though. Just to be sure. But with it being a 2wd, they had to customize it some. It cost me $500.00 total. But it gave me alot of lift. Totally worth it. The main factor in the lift not fitting the 2wd is the steering shaft is not long enough to work with the lift. But my shop simply extended the shaft and it workds fine. Or you could go to a steering place like Borgeson.com and have a shaft made to fit your truck. I was quoted $266.00. Its up to you. If you did the 3in body lift and either the 3in AIM Susp. lift or 4in Trailmaster lift, you could roll 33x 11.50 I am sure. At least 32's. That is a good size area for these Daks. What engine do you have?

32's would be best with 4.10's if you plan to tow or off-road. I have seen 33's with the trailmaster lift. I've got a 2 inch bodylift on my 95. Still saving for the trailmaster kit.

No way man, from what I have heard, it really helps to change your gear ratio. I brings back some of the power you lose from haveing bigger tires. 4.10's sound good to me too. I am thinking about running something like 3.92 or what ever is the closest gear to that on my 90' Dak with the 31's. Hang in there!

Thanks for all the help so far guys. Now that I know how to do everything, I have to get the money to do it. Have you heard anything about Mickey Thompson baja claw tires? Would they wear pretty fast if I ran them on the road?

from what I have seen from guys running the Claws here, they last longer than the other Mickey's but still wear faster than most other aggressive tires (BFG, ProComp, Goodyear, etc).

I probably won't be doing any serious off roading(well not until I can spend more on the dak). So how would 4.10 gears afect my speed?

If you go with 32's then I would stick with 3.55's or 3.90's but 4.10's are going to be a bit low for everyday driving. You can pull a house with them though. 3.90's are a good compromise. I plan on going to the 3.90's with my 33's. If you want a good all around tire look at the new Pro Comp AT's (have them on my wife's 99 4x4 Durango, very impressive so far) or Goodyear AT/S (expensive). If you want to go 1 step up, then BFG AT's. From there you start getting into the more aggressive tires.

I have a 94 Dak 2wd and i lifted the front 2 inches by buying new dakota v8 springs mine is a 6 so the extra spring rate raises it. I put air shocks in the back for a couple inches. Then I did a one inch body lift using hockey pucks, the only thing you have to do is adjust the shift linkadge. the truck fits 31 by 10.5" tires with fender triming. Eagle alloy sells series 589 15 by 8 rims with 3 1/4" backspacing which works well. I still wish to go higher so I'm planning on stacking 3 pucks. sorry but a picture of the truck is not on the site yet. it was cheap too the springs were like 150 for the pair and the pucks are $2 each you dont even need longer bolts. hope this helps.
