And all I am saying is the shop that gave you the price on the 5" susp lift for a 2003 Dakota, doesn't know his ass from his head. Fact is there isn't one. There is a 3" susp for your truck though(Rancho).

Tire size...with a 3" BL and a 3" Rancho you could probly run the 35's. With the BL only I'd say no bigger than 33" tires.

there is a 5.5" lift not sure exact company, i wanna say truckin specialties, and then there is a 10" lift made by someone else, one of the truck companies around here swear by them, the other says they are good but the truck wont hold an alignment for more than 400 miles with them....you can go to www.etaonline.com and see that company and what they do, and believe me when i tell you those guys are knowledgeable!!!

The lift you guys are talking about is from Tuff Country and it is 5" front/ 5.5" rear. They are the only ones that make a lift over 3"s for a Dakota. I have been looking at putting one on my 97 Club Cab 4x4 because I am gettin tired of all the front suspension problems. I believe the biggest tires they accomodate are 33x12.5's without rub. You can probably go bigger if you get a body lift thrown in along with the suspsension.

Depending on what you plan to do with your truck, you might even be able to fit 37's...depending on the width, and if you mind a little rub. If you actually plan to do some off roading, 37's "might" be a bit big, possibly some fender trimming (front to back, up and down would be fine, but Daks have u-shaped wheel openings, not arched) and you didnt mention if the shop was installing a kit for you or doing a custom 5in lift, so that would determine how stuffed your tires would be at full compression. Ive seen Daks with 3in sus and 3in body running 35x12.5r15's with only minimal rub at full turn, and it looked very nice, so 2in more suspension might make room for 37's, but it depends on what youre going to do with it :). Hope I was some help.

Hey, my name's Al, and i am looking for the largest lift that I can find for a '99 dakota 2wd. I have found 3" suspension and 3" body lifts, but i am wondering if anyone has any info about anything larger than that? I found a bunch of 5.5" suspension lifts for the 4wds, and was wondering if there is a possibility of modifieng one of those to fit a 2wd? I figure probably not, so if you have any info on anything larger than the 3", hit me up with some feed back please! Thanks a ton.

According to the latest issue of Petersen's 4wheel & offroad, Rough Country is currently working on a 6" suspension lift for 1997 and up Daks. Supposedly it will achieve the 6" of lift with NO TORSION BAR DROP! This is being used on a lot of their new lifts, such as the ones for 99 & up Chevy trucks. It is also suppose to have upgraded heavy duty CV shafts for the front. I'm not sure if they will be included or an option though. Unfortunately the article didn't say when this lift is suppose to be coming out, but they did say to expect big things coming soon for the Dakota. Not just from Rough Country but other manufacturers as well. Kind of makes you glad you kept your Dakota, doesn't it? If you want to know more check out the article in the latest issue of 4WOR, the article is called "How to lift late models" or something like that.

I read that article to and e-mailed rough country and they told me they have nothing in the works for a Dakota, they could have just been saying that to keep it under wraps.

Thank God I found this forum! I've been reading all of this and it seems like you all know what you are talking about. I'm relatively....well...ok, I am competely new to the world of 4x4's. Anyways I have recently aqcuired a taste for offroad performance (instead of onroad perf. ie. I sold my 66 Mustang.) Now I own a 1988 Dakota 4x4 3.9L etc etc. I cant find a suspension lift anywhere. I have 31/10.50/15's on it now but I want a "real" suspension that will allow plenty of room for 33's (without a solid axle swap). Can someone please point me in the right direction? -Mustang Mike PS- I'm not interested in any body lifts.
