Message: It will absolutley NOT WORK, unless you convert your entire front end. The rams come with a Dana 44 Coil Spring setup where now your running and IFS torsion bar system.
In short it WILL NOT WORK

Message: Frank,
2002+ Ram 1500’s have Torsion bar IFS now as well. No more solid axle in the half ton. I haven’t looked under one myself so I don’t know how different they are from the Dakotas

Note: I very frequently get email from people asking about the lift kit in my ’88. Typically, I will NOT respond to the emails (about 95%) that ask questions I’ve already covered on my web pages (ie. Where did you get the kit?, Who makes it?, How much did it cost?, What modifications did you have to make to get it to fit your truck?. How hard was it to install? What problems did you encounter? etc, etc...)

Message: I forgot about the new IFS setup. Hmm could work but my guess is with the amount of fab work it would take to make it work you might as well do an SAS and be happy.

Message: I agree, I went through the trouble of modifying the 91-96 Dakota Trailmaster kit to fit my ’88. In hindsight, a SAS probably would have cost me about the same and I would have been much happier in the long run. The Trailmaster kit is just too flimsy for any real off-road use. Though at the time I installed it, I really didn’t wheel the truck as hard as I do now so I don’t feel ripped off. Never the less, I recently picked up a set of Danas from a totaled Ram 2500 and I’ll be swapping those in later once I gather up the other pieces I have in mind.
