Subject: 2001 Dakota wheels and Tires IP: Logged
Message: Hi, just found this site and hope you can help. i can't beleive how hard it is to find wheels in the 6X4.5 bolt pattern...what was Dodge thinking? Anyway, will 15" wheels fit on my 2001 Dakota. It has 16X8 stock with the 265/70R16 Stock GYs. I am thinking the front disk brake might rub on a 15" wheel. I have found some wheels at 4wheelparts with the right bolt pattern. Both the Weld Sidewinder in a 15X8 (4.625" BS) or 15x10 (4.625" BS) and XD Enduros in a 16X8 (4.5" BS), 16X10 (5.45" BS) or 17X9 (5" BS) Both wheels are trick, but pricey. I would really like to go with 15X10 Sidewinders and 31/12.50R15 Pro Comp Xterrains, but worried about the 15" wheel. I do not plan to lift at this time, just a few cranks on the torsion bars to level it out. Any advice on tires and wheels is greatly appreciated. If this has been covered before, could you please give me link? I have been searching the internet for 2 days trying to find the answer. Thanks!

Message: I have the sidewinders in 8" and yes you could run a 15" wheel on 2001 truck but not an 03 . the front is fine , but in 03 they went with bigger rotors and they rub , and I beleive it's in the rear where they rub .............I would go with the 8" the 10" is too wide and would give problems with the balljoints and hubs and so forth ...................

Message: Cool, thanks for the info, what do you think about the 31/12.50R15 Xterrains on the 15X8 Weld Sidewinder. i think it would have an aggressive look.

Message: yup should be fine , I have 31x10.5 in mud terrains . 2wd 3" fabtech , the 12.5 tires tend to rub on the back side of the fender ( inner back ) but if you have a 4x go for it ........no problem ..............I don't now of anyone with those rims on a dak , they look good and is way superior rim to a cast rim ..............
