 Subject: suspension spacer

i was wondering if fabricating spacers for the springs of my 2000 dodge dakota would work. i was going to try using nylon because i cant find a 2 inch spacer lif anywere for a 4X4 dakota quad cab. just wanted to knoew if anyone has ever done this.

why dont you just crank the tortion bars. Dont mess with the spacers it is a waste of your time. Plus you will throw off your camber. Just give em a crank.

do you think that the fabtech 2 inch lift thats for the 2wd would work for the 4wd. i dont understand he difference.

If you look around, I think you can find 2-2.5 inch leaf spring blocks for the rear (I did for about $30 online http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi-bin/suscon/search.html?fi=products&st=db&co=yes&sf=category&se=Lift%20Blocks:id=f7eYaRbs ). And as kota krazy said, torque the torsion bars up. If you do, have you front aligned immedietly. You should be able to get 1-2 inches.

the difference for the 2wd is the spring rate. Since you have tortion bars that takes alot of the tension off of the front suspension. Plus the spring sizes are tottally different. But dan is right you should get it aligned after you crank the bars. The tortion lift is the best for you. Its fast easy and the best part is that it is free!

if i get those leaf spring blocks, where would i find spacers for the front. i could probably make a pair, but finding ones that are made for it would make me feel better. i was thinking about the 2 inch lift. the reason i dont crank the torsion bar is because i heard it makes the ride stiff as a board.

It does stiffen your ride, but that is the only way. I have never heard of any kind of spacer to work with your front end. Go ahead and look closely at your front end. There are no springs to put a spacer on, just one bar to keep it up.
