Subject: body lift install questions IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1997 dodge dakota, 4x4, 5 speed. I want to do a 2inch body lift on it. Do i need to worry about anything when i install it. Do i have to worry about extending or adjusting the 4x4 shifter on the floor or the 5 speed. Do i have to make any adjustments to the steering. Pictures of how to install would be appreciated. And anybody that has done this i would like to talk to about the install.

Message: havent done a body lift myself but this is wut ive heard:
u need extensions for the 4x4 shifter, in your case the tranny shifter too, and the steering. the p.a. lifts come with the steering extension and a chunk of metal for the 5-speed. your supposed to weld on the chunk as the extension but ive heard you can use a coupler and some all-thread if you dont have access to a welder. same with the 4x4 shifter, but i dont know if it comes with an extension for it or not.
remember i could be wrong about some of this. do what i did and search this site and you will find tons of info.

Message: I installed a 2" body lift on my 92 Dakota and it was very simple. The lift kit came with everything you need and instructions. Remove the bolts from the bed and slide in a 2" spacer and new bolt. Once all the spacers have been installed, move to the cab. Install spacers with new bolts and align the body with the cab. The most difficult part was raising the front bumper. Had to drill out two holes and it looks great. No extensions or adjustments to the shifter or 4 x 4 . I did have to unbolt the steel brake line hold down on the frame under the master cylinder. Only took one afternoon and it gave the old truck a great new look with the 31 x 10.50's on it.
