Subject: What is an ISS Front Differential? IP: Logged
Message: I'm looking into changing the gears in my '02 4x4 QC 4.7 from 3.55 to 4.11, and the guy is asking what kind of differentials I have. He asked if I have the ISS front differential...? I don't know what that is. I just thought they were 9.25" rear and 8.25" front for my truck, not some type or name. I know the rear is 9.25" (12-bolt pattern), and I'm sort of guessing on the 8.25" front since it looks smaller. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Vince

Message: he may have asked if you had the "IFS" front differental. THat's on trucks that don't have solid axles up front, such as the dakota :)

Message: I believe that the 8" American axle is the standard for the front axle. I don't think it's the 8.25". I have the 8".
