Message: I have a 1992 dakota 4x4 and the time has come to replace my tires. Currently I'm running 235/75 R15. I was wondering how big a tire I could put on without resorting to a lift or different rims. Also, if anyone has any recommendations as to the best off-roading tire, i would appriciate it.

Message: Hey I have 94 4x4 Club Cab.
I had stock tires on it for a while. (235/75 R15)
I think going with a taller tire without putting on bigger rims is
going to be a mistake visually and ride quality wise. I put 16"
rims from a 02 Durango that had 265/70 R16 but they rubbed a
little. They were worn so I replaced them with 255/70 R16 and
they fit great for ON road use. I'm not sure about if the
suspension had to work any.
We'll see soon enough though.
So to answer your questions. Leave the stock size (maybe a
teeny bit wider) unless you get bigger wheels... but bigger
wheels and tires really do make the truck look good.

Message: I have a 94 CLub Cab 4x4. I was told I could go with the 30x9.5R15s and they would be fine. I am here looking for what people suggest for tires. I am looking at coopers now, A/Ts most likely, but I like the S/Ts and the STTs
Any ideas let me know. Thanks.

Message: Go with the Summit CT High Traction Radial. Good on road performance, and excellent offroad capability. I run them on all my trucks. The 31X10.5X15 I bought ran me about $104.00 each mounted and balanced. Good tire for the price.

Message: I have a 2004 Dakota 4x4 V8 quad cab. I had a tire blow out on the interstate so I need at least one new tire. My spare is brand new, so I was thinking I'd buy a new tire to match it (both on rear) and leave the older but still good tires on front. I checked with one tire dealer who told me I'd need to replace at least 3 of them so all 4 would have the same tread wear. He said that it would put a lot of strain on the differential when it was in 4 wheel drive because all 4 tires have to turn together and they won't do that unless I have 4 brand new tires. Is he correct or just trying to sell me more tires? The ones on it now I was planning to use another 20 to 30,000 miles. I rarely use the 4 wheel drive (Iowa roads when they get bad in winter and a couple of times a year across a cornfield to pick up a deer).

Message: If you were running significantly different tire sizes (i.e.: a 29" on one side and a 31" on the other side) AND had a locking differential, then yes it would be bad. Put the spare on and buy a cheap, used tire and mount it as the spare. A spare just needs to hold air...something to get you home. When you decide to replace tires in 20-30K miles, make that 'former' spare the spare again and THEN buy 4 new tires. This is your cheapest (easiest) solution. That story about different sized tires is a load of crap. They are simply trying to make money off you. Even with a limited slip it doesn't really matter as long as they are 'close' in size. Been there done...well, you know the rest.

Message: I have an 04 Dakota quad cab and it calls for 275/70/R16's but the dealer told me he put a new set on and they're 275/75/16's and I noticed a slight rubbing on the drivers inside mud guard. Is there an optional size for these trucks or is this tire gonna rip the bumper off?
Thanx for any help!

Message: Depends...
On what year your rig is. Late `90s (`98?) and newer, Dodge went to 16 " wheels to clear larger front rotors & brake calipers. If you have one ove these, a 15" wheel will not clear the brake calipers on the front end.
