Subject: Heavy Duty Torsion Bars Available?? IP: Logged
Message: Guys, I have an 01 QC 4x4 with the 4.7. I cranked the bars a bit to level my ride, but have now added a lot of weight with a Hanson Bumper and Ramsey Winch. I notice this weight alot.
Question is.......other than the stock 4x4 4.7l torsion bars, is there any Heavier Duty ones available to accomodate this extra weight?
I haven't seemed to find anything in previous posts.
Thanks

Message: If your truck didn't have heavy duty suspension as original you can get heavy duty torsion bars from the dealer for about $100 each. I put heavy duty V8 bars on my 94 V6 after installing a hydraulic winch on the front of my truck.
Sorry to hear you got an electric winch, I put a mile marker 10,500# hydraulic with synthetic rope on my truck, works GREAT! Two speeds in and out and freewheeling. Works off the power steering pump which is more powerful than an electric motor. Sure the truck has to be running but you won't winch long with an electric without the charging system going either.
Powering out electric winches just over powers the brakes..... I had a warn that burned out the brake and therefore the drive coupling after powering out just one length of cable, I would have lost my truck if it had been on a hill.

Message: He already has v8 torsion bars - dealer does NOT have a heavier bar for his truck as you claim. Some time ago someone on this site was trying to get a number of people together to get some custom made, I don't think they got enough people.
