I'm looking to replace my stock shocks with something better, I've seen the rancho rs9000s but they're alittle to $$$$$$$ for me, I do some offroading but my truck is basically my daily driver.

I've been through nearly every shock and NOTHING compares to old man emu shock absorbers. They make my jeep ride like a car...and everyone knows jeeps ride rough. Not sure if they make a shock for the dakota but i'm sure u can make it fit. Definately worth every penny.

Not sure about "old man emu" shocks, I don't know what they are.

However, I have RS5000's on mine. Put them on about 40K miles ago. Slightly harsher than stock, but much greater control both on road and off. It really was a simple bolt on. Only took an hour to install all 4 shocks. If you watch, you can usually find them on sale for about $45-50 each at places like Summit Racing.

I've also heard good things about Monroe Magnum shocks. I havn't used them in many years. But when I did, I liked them.

Old Man Emu shocks are manufactured by ARB, which is a well known respectable company that i'm sure most 4wheelers know about. These shocks are strictly designed for "ride" quality and off-road use. Going from Fabtech shocks to Old man emu was literally AMAZING. There's no comparision and i've had the rancho's before and they are no different from the fabtechs. I'm not quite sure if they make em for the dakota but i know if you contact a dealer, they can fit your truck.

Very interesting. Looks like a quality product. I didn't see anthing for our trucks, though. I wonder is Jeep shocks will fit????? Anyway, $72 isn't too bad for a quality part, either. Thanx for the education.

I have rancho rs5000 front and rear, much better than stock. I also have heavy duty v8 torsion bars on my v6 dakota because of hydraulic winch on the front. 2" lift blocks and a helwig anti sway bar on the rear, front torsion bars tweeked all the way up for clearance. Still rides nice on and off road. I get off road lots doing search and rescue.
