Subject: Bad news for Manual Trans IP: Logged
Message: So get this all...Recently I fronted the 3600 dollars for new Rancho lift, Alloy Rims, Pro Comp 33's to be installed on my '01 Club cab 4x4 with the 4.7 price included all parts, labor etc. Dropped my truck off to have the lift installed and went home. About three hours later I get a call. "Hey man, this is so and so at 4 wheel. Got some bad news. We can't install the lift. The lift will not work with the manual transmission. I called Rancho and they didn't manufacture a lift for the manual tranny. If you had the auto we could do it."
(side note: I custom ordered my truck specifically to get a manual trans with the 4.7 and 4x4. Never thought it would bite me like this.)
Apparently there is no lift engineered for the manual trans. I think it has something to do with the indexing ring/drop brackets. So if you have a 4x4 with a manual tranny give it up or go the custom route. I was really looking forward to the improvements this could have made but guess I'll have to wait for something else. Just wanted to give all you manual tranny guys a warning about it...and vent a little as well, so thanks for letting me blow off a little steam.
Good times and happy wheelin'

Message: Sorry about that, guess I should've posted in the raised dakota threads. Other than this fiasco I got no complaints about the truck or any of the parties involved. +
Thanks Again

Message: That makes no sense. It's the same frame & suspension, auto vs. stick. I would question the installer for more details as to what is different, sounds like someone is yanking your chain.

Message: I have a 2000 QC with the Rancho lift, which I installed myself. While mines an automatic, I can't think of a thing that would be different wiht a manual. The tranny stays in the stock position before, during and after the lift and all of the driveline angles are maintained, so there shouldn't be anything that would affect a manual and not an auto.
I also checked the instructions for the lift and nowhere in them does it say for auto only, or otherwise indicate the kit can only be used on an auto. Maybe your installed is confused about the portion of the install where you relocate the transmission crossmember? While you do permanently lower the crossmember, you install new spacers designed to keep the tranny in the stock location. Personally, I would try another shop. If this one can't even figure this out, do you really want them working on your truck?

Message: Thanks for the replies all. I couldn't think of anything that would cause these problems myself but figured I'd take their word for it. Sure am glad to here I'm not totally outta luck. If anybody has pics or links to this truck with solely the three inch lift I would really appreciate them. I can be contacted at ware_ever2000@yahoo.com Thanks. Oh yeah on a side note The installer was 4 wheel parts wholesalers, I figured I'd have them do it so I'd get the warranties and all but I guess it's driveway time. Thanks again fellas.

Message: I have the lift with an auto. The issue is probaly with the change to the tranny mount under the truck. I am not sure what the difference in the two might be. But have you seen the gray dak with the body lift and 35's on this sight? If I hadn't already done the Rancho lift, I'd go that direction insted. Proably save your self a grand or so too. With the Ranch, I am limited on tire size and with the Rancho tranny mount hanging down 3", I really didn't gain any ground clerance other then the 1" taller tires (for now). Good luck
