My truck its a automatic trans. did you add to extend the shifter harm (not the 4x4) the transmission??

Message: No, with the auto trans you don't need to do any welding or anything... The install is pretty easy.
The kit comes with two metal extension rods - one for the manual shifter and one for the transfer case shifter (I didn't know there was such a thing as a manual xfer case on dakotas but it doesn't matter - you don't need either piece). Throw both of those 3" metal rods away! The trickiest part I found was the steering extension... It didn't want to seat all the way down onto the steering box. But it's been holding on fine for a while now and no steering slop.

Message: Oh, you might want to weld in the "box overload protectors"... They're 2 little metal squares that go under one of the ribs of the bed.
