Due to the way the front is setup you really cant put a locker there. The front diff is always turning even when not engaged in 4wd. So if you had a locker it would always be locked and you would tear up the front end pretty quick and turning would be difficult on road.

He's right. You can't use a LSD/Locker on the front if you're going to drive on the street. Just put it in 4H and drive around town and you'll see what it's like.

Consider an Air Locker. It's an open differential until you push the button. Then it's a spool.

Auburn makes a electronic locker which is like a LSD when off and locks when on (would be good for the rear axle).

www.auburngear.com/oemdifferentials/ected/

Eaton makes another electronic locker, when off it acts as a open and on is locked (would be good for the front axle).

www.traction.eaton.com/prod1.htm

Now for the bad news. Neither is available for our trucks.

......but I'm waiting.

Good luck!

Doesn't Powertrax make lockers for dakotas? I believe they even have a picture of a durango going through snow on their website, so I"m sure they have some options for our trucks...

Yes Powertrax has a option for the dakota. Pros and cons.

Still nothing for the front though.

I checked the ARB Website.

Nothing listed for the Chrysler 9.25 Corporate axle.

It does list one for the Jeep Liberty Dana 30 IFS and the Dakota (V6) Dana 30 (non-standard).

Now my question is ....is the IFS on the 2001 and up Dakota either one of these?

Anyone know?
